Maria is the name my mother gave me. Fröken is what my little students call me. Mom is what my little girl says about a gazillion sweet times a day. I call myself a minimalist, and I am most definitely a gardener, and a hiker addicted to photography. I choose the name SagittariusViking for my blog. I have by all means been a very typical Sagittarius so far in my life.

A Sagittarius loves to travel, have an open mind and, and a philosophical view. It motivates them to wander around the world in search of the meaning of life. Sagittarius is extrovert, optimistic and enthusiastic, and likes changes.

A lot of that perfectly describes me. The fact that my ancestors, on both parents sides, were vikings, doesn’t exactly lessen my desire to explore. Maybe a slightly more mindful exploring, compared to the average viking. My blog, and my art prints is a results of my (inner and outer) explorations. By the end of 2019 I returned to Sweden the country of my birth, after spending eight years in the US, and prior to that traveling all over Europe. I am at home now. I’m a single mom, 40 years old, content, and happy. I have a work that I love. My goal of having a small homestead is within reach. My explorations now are closer to home and heart. I enjoy learning more about the beautiful region Dalarna (Sweden) where I live. I also constantly explore different ways of living a more self sufficient life, and becoming a better version of me.

I started this blog to encourage a healthy lifestyle, with a close connection to nature and animals, using my photos and stories as the medium for inspiration. During busy times you might only find one post a week, but often several. If you are looking for more inspiration there is prints of my favourite photos available in my gallery, and I have written a couple books that are available on Amazon:

The Desert Around Las Vegas

Nevada Mustangs – Living Symbols Of The West

        • Awe good, that makes me feel better. I always go to the “about page” of a new blog first. I find them most interesting. Then I discovered today that I missed several comments on my own about page… that’s not good. I’m going to work hard on keeping better track on comments. Interacting with other bloggers is something I enjoy very much.

    • Thank you Brad! Life changes 🙂 I moved so that my daughter would be able to get to know her biological father. I never could imagine myself living in a city, and definitely not Las Vegas. The close proximity to amazing nature is my savior. Thank you for dropping by. I hope you’re having an amazing weekend.

      • Maria, there’s an enormous amount to like about the L.V. area. Even for us daytrippers, the Red Rocks never get old, but I’d love to have the opportunity to explore more widely into the desert, the Great Basin, etc. Enjoy!

          • I’ve only seen Valley of Fire once, and just as a drive-through. Haven’t gotten out to hike, nor have we seen it in different lighting. It would be beautiful in early morning or late afternoon light. So long as you’re good for the heat, you have an enormous amount to explore.

  6. I love your site – thank you for following my blog. It’s not very “wordy” – it’s mainly about the photos I post. Right now I’m (hopefully ) completing a 365 project so those are the majority of photos I post. I look forward to your posts
