This week have been intense, to say the least. Lots to do at work, and lots of exercise. I’ve had tons of energy all week. I walked 12 179 steps on Monday, 16 868 steps on Tuesday (while teaching a large number of kids how to use a ski lift by themselves,) 11 416 steps on Wednesday, 11 611 steps on Thursday, and 15 805 steps on Friday (only counting the steps I am taking outside, since I am not wearing my phone when I am inside.) It was the first week I’ve tracked my steps. I knew I walk a lot, but I didn’t know how much!
When the weekend came around I felt a strong need to relax, read and take naps. So that is basically what I’ve been doing this weekend, most of the time. I did fill up the freezer with rye bread that I baked yesterday, and I’ve been taking care of my plants at home (they always get some extra love in the weekend,) helped my daughter with her Swedish homework, written a couple educational plans for work, but I’ve definitely relaxed more than usual this weekend. My body is thanking me for this wise decision. LOL.
How are you doing? Can I get you some coffee? Or tea perhaps? Maybe your nostrils already told you about the mud-cake cooling down in my kitchen? Feel free to try it, its Valentine’s Day after all, and my kids decided that we are having mud-cake tonight…after dinner. They’ve asked me to bake pizza for dinner, I’ll better get to it.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Love,
Maria
Wow, that is a lot of steps. Hope you are having a restful and restorative weekend.

Hi Maria!
Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope your pizza is wonderful!
Would you be willing to share your blueberry soup recipe sometime? You wrote about it a few weeks ago and I can’t stop thinking about it 💜
Have a wonderful week 💜

Thank you Dinah! Happy Valentine’s Day! Here is the recipe:
Sagittarius Viking’s Blueberry Soup
2 cups of blueberries (fresh or frozen)
2 cups of water
2 tbs honey (or sugar)
1tbs of flour mixed with water
Boil water and honey/sugar until everything is solved. Add blueberries, let it boil for about 3 min. If you want the soup to be smooth you can mix it now, otherwise you can skip that. Whisk the flour and water in a separate dish until smooth. Whisk it into the soup. Simmer 4-5 min while whisking every now and then. Enjoy!
Have a fabulous new week 🙂

Happy Valentine’s day! I want to walk that many steps! That’s fantastic and good for you too. But I can see getting tired so you deserve some rest and relaxation. Baking smells and tastes wonderful! Yummy, fresh bread, and mud cake for dessert!! Enjoy! And thank you for the bite to go with my coffee! ❤️❤️❤️

Wow, that’s a lotta steps, good for you, Maria! I bet your body is grateful for a relaxing, recharging-the-batteries, weekend.
The frigid spell that was with us for the past week has eased as it rose to 34ºF today, balmy! 😉 All that great snow pack we’ve been enjoying is threatened by possible freezing rain this week. 😦 Well, it was nice while it lasted!
Have you heard of Jonna Jinson (https://jonnajintonsweden.com)? She is Swedish artist from up north, has a blog and vlog, which I LOVE. I can’t get enough of her videos (she now has over 50, so I’m slowly going through them). She shares the beauty of nature, which as you know, Sweden is so blessed. I think of you often while watching. 🙂
Have a great week ahead.

OOo yes! I’ve enjoyed Jonna Jintons work for some years now. I especially appreciated it when I was in California, so far from home, and longed for the big forests up north. Thanks for reminding me, I should watch the latest episodes. Her version of our National Anthem is absolutely beautiful. I hope your new week is a great one.

That’s a lot of steps. No wonder you want to rest. 🙂 I struggle to even get 10,000 simply because I have to drive everyhwere to get anywhere…lol.

I don’t know where you live, but towns and cities are so different. When I lived in Las Vegas it would have been almost dangerous not having a good vehicle. There you needed a good AC, and a car that wouldn’t break down, because it would be dangerous with the heat and air pollution otherwise, you simply could not walk. Here the walk and bike paths are well developed, the air is clean and the weather usually very good for being outside.

It can be so tricky finding a balance between staying fit & rest, I’m so glad you listen to your body.
Sounds like such a fun valentines day, as soon as you mentioned smelling the mud cake I want to bake NOW.. lolol or fly to your place, probably easier to bake, lol.

Balance isn’t always easy, I tend to live an active lifestyle wherever I live, even though the activities can vary. It just happens like that. I like moving, but I also like to enjoy a good book. I bet tending to your garden and homestead keeps you active every day 🙂

Yes, there is always laundry and house cleaning. I think I would miss it if I didn’t do that part myself. There is satisfaction in a clean home and clean laundry. I hope you are enjoying a fabulous new week.

Yes so far we have had a snowstorm and a big dump of snow. That makes things interesting! But the drifts in our backyard have made the landscape look very different . Beautiful. Have a good week Maria.

Lots of walking, yes getting your exercise. Mudd cake sounds intriguing. My daughters made heart shaped pizza for Valentines. Thinking pizza is making me hungry.

I do love winter, but we don’t get snow very often these days. Nothing beyond a few flurries this winter.

I hope you enjoyed your Valentines Pizza and your relaxing weekend. You certainly deserved it after your busy step filled week! I am afraid that I’ve never heard of Mud Cake. I’m sure it is much more tasty that the mud cakes I used to make as a child since they were made with actual mud! Have a great week.

Thank you! The kids loved the pizza, and the small gifts they got for Valentine’s Day, so it was a great day. Mud Cake is a type of chocolate/fudge cake that is best enjoyed with ice cream. How could anyone go wrong with that 😉 I hope your new week started out in the best possible way.

Nice job on all of the steps. You do get a lot of steps in every day! Teaching kids to use the ski lift is exhausting (I used to be a ski instructor a million years ago!)
