Weekend Coffee Share

Welcome to the weekend. How about some coffee? It’s late Friday afternoon in Sweden, but I know that many of you are just starting your day, so maybe coffee is the way to go? I just had some green tea with vanilla. Maybe I can offer you a cup?

How is your week?

We celebrated National Kindergarten Day in Sweden yesterday. It was a blast. We prepared by making a large banner with the children earlier this week, that we hung up outside the school before the kids arrived yesterday morning. We also had tons of balloons to make it festive. In the morning we walked up a ski slope, and enjoyed a beautiful view and snacked on some fruits we brought with us. We had a marvellous picnic lunch in the forest as well. The weather was interesting, first we had sun, then wind, and later hail and snow! It is unusually cold for mid May. The kids had a great day yesterday, and I believe a great week with lots of exploring in the area around the school.

There are no real big news about the Corona situation. We keep social distancing, but attend school, and the essential businesses are open. I don’t own a lot of stocks, but I noticed yesterday that the ones I have had gone down with about 15% the past 4 months. Surely related to the pandemi. I thought about it a little but decided to not sell, but rather wait this out. It’s not a lot of money anyways.

Do you have any exciting plans for the weekend? I’m planning on sleeping in, doing some chores around the house, go for nature walks, write some evaluations for work, and play chess with my daughter. It should be a great weekend. Thank you for having coffee with me today. Tell me what’s been on your mind this week.

It’s all about experiences, and the healing power of nature. Life is about choosing happiness. I entered the magic world of photography when I was five years old. My gypsy soul have taken me to many different countries, and definitely taught me to be more humble. I believe that you are what you eat, body and soul. I enjoy growing my own food, and spending time outdoors. A Sagittarius loves to travel, have an open mind and, and a philosophical view. It motivates them to wander around the world in search of the meaning of life. Sagittarius is extrovert, optimistic and enthusiastic, and likes changes. A lot of that perfectly describes me. The fact that my ancestors, on both parents sides, were vikings, doesn’t exactly lessen my desire to explore. Maybe a slightly more mindful exploring, compared to the average viking. My blog, and my art prints is a results of my (inner and outer) explorations. Love, Maria

    1. They never closed the schools, the older children have online classes, (with a few exceptions.) I have been following the news from the US about Sweden. Most of it is correct. Many businesses are open, but in a completely different way, honouring social distancing. Many work from home. There have been economic consequences for many, as businesses suffer, but probably not on the same scale as in many other countries. Having the schools open have helped to keep things more normal for many families.

  1. What a lovely photo with the green grass and blue skies. I used to work in the financial markets and I would advise against selling. It is very difficult to time the market. The tough thing , if you sell now, is to know when to buy back in. You are young enough to hang on and wait . The market will come back eventually so if I were you I would sit tight and not look at it too often. Thanks for the tea!

    1. Thank you Anne! The world outside my window is beautiful. It’s getting very green everywhere, and its not too hot! LOL. I never liked the heat. Of course my garden would like it a little warmer 🙂

Thank you for your advise. It’s what I feel in my gut that I should do, nothing, just wait.

I enjoyed our little chat 🙂 Have a great weekend!

  2. I like the view from that classroom! 🙂
Hard to believe how fast this week flew by! The weather has been unusually cold up until today when it soared into the mid-70s and the humid air smelled like Florida. This evening a cold front is coming through with high winds, heavy rain and possible tornadoes. We had an F1 tornado a few years ago and there was a lot of damage both to homes and forests. I hope it passes us by, they are too scary!
I only worked one day this week and puttered around the rest of the days. Little by little, things are getting done. More flowers are coming into bloom and ferns are unfurling.
Today I had the two girls over from next door for a ‘socially-distanced’ Violet Tea luncheon. It was absolutely delightful! I’m glad we were able to continue our annual tradition. I Iove those kids!

    1. I hope the tornado passes far from you. I bet your place is extra beautiful this time of the year. A colleague and I have been talking about how we love the seasons this week, and really enjoy living in a place with four seasons, like you do as well 🙂
It snowed here again earlier this morning, and it’s around 30F at the moment (7AM.) There is no snow on the ground, its very green. The afternoons have been in the 40’s, maybe low 50’s some days.
It’s really wonderful that you were able to enjoy your luncheon tradition. Have a wonderful weekend Eliza! ❤

  3. Here the government has earmarked June 1st as the day that some, not all, of the class years can return to school. But it seems that the teachers union is against the idea, and many parents are refusing to send their children back which has been acknowledged as being their choice. My children aren’t in the chosen years so this doesn’t affect us, yet.

      1. Yes, there’s some parents saying that they aren’t returning their children, and it’s been confirmed that any parents keeping their children away will not be fined, etc.
Even the teacher’s union is expressing doubts.

  4. That is one nice looking classroom you’ve got there! Have fun playing Chess, it’s been quite some time since I played, but I used to love it. It can be hard to find people to play with though. Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you Russell! I really like my classroom 🙂
Chess is a given weekend fun at our house. My daughter could play all day if I let her, but I have a few other things I’d like to do…she is getting better and better at chess, making me work hard. Enjoy your weekend!

  5. I’m enjoying my cup of coffee this morning with you and I’m enjoying your beautiful views along with my gorgeous morning here! It’s 62F here and the high will be 82F so happy with these mild spring days! I know the heat will be coming in summer.
Enjoy a relaxing weekend, and I need to get busy and write my coffee share! ❤️

  6. Hi Maria,
I’m glad you didn’t sell that stock. I have most of my retirement $$ in stocks still and by money guy agrees that I’m in good shape but few people wind up better off by selling when things are this low. If the company is still healthy and stands to stay in business, then stay put. If you have a good reason to doubt the company will not do well through these weird times, then sell but buy something with a good company with good prospects or you will take a loss. Don’t sell weak stocks and then stay in cash. But I’ll bet you bought a good company so are fine where you’re at.
Ugh – that had to be the least fun thing I’ve written all week. I’ll stop now.
Hope all is well with you.

    1. Haha, I appreciate it, thank you Gary. Everything is good here. It feels wrong to say that things are good, when the world is in this situation and things are difficult for so many. I’m really busy at work, and spring is beautiful. My daughter is healthy. -I’d say things are good. I hope everything is good with you and your family. I know California is absolutely magical this time of the year. Facebook keep reminding me every day with photo memories from past years. Enjoy this beautiful time. Stay well my friend ❤

  7. Lovely classroom. And I really like the clouds. Our weather’s been doing weird stuff, also. Warm enough now, however, that the grass and dandelions grew. Al’s out mowing the front yard, after spending most of the afternoon trying to fix the lawnmower. Ended up having to buy another. Self-propelled, so I think he will not be so exhausted at the end of the task.

Hope that all continues to go well with you and your daughter. Sounds like you are enjoying a lot of quality time with her. Wonderful!

    1. I’m enjoying our weekly chat Lizl 🙂 I hope the new lawnmower works out. The grass is getting tall here as well, and we have many flowers now, despite the cooler weather. I’ve been covering the veggies I already had put out, the celery, and peas are doing great, the beans and tomatoes not so much.
I am blesses with a lot of quality time with my daughter, since ot’s just her and I, we spend all our free time together. Enjoy the rest of your weekend ❤

  9. Hi Maria, Glad you and your school students had a fun celebration in the sunshine. I’ve been enjoying spring season, too. We had snow flurries one morning last week but they didn’t last. Your weekend plan sounds great. I did my outdoor walks, exercises, and house chores. I just baked my first coconut loaf and am waiting for it to cool. Thank you for your coffee share. Have a wonderful Sunday and upcoming week!

  10. Beautiful picture! National Kindergarten Day sounds wonderful! I taught pre-k kids a child development center for five years, ages 3-5 are so much fun to work with! My hubby has also been investing in some stocks during the pandemic, they’re doing well so far. I hope it stays that way. 🙂 Thank you for the coffee and I hope you have a great upcoming week!
