My friend Terri asks us to choose, and share some of our absolute favourite photos this week. The photo above is 6 years old, but it is still my favourite of all the photos I’ve taken. It’s my daughter and my favourite horse in our living room (at our ranch in California.) She learned to walk hanging on to this horse tail (not something I recommend. Don’t try it at home.)
Video of my daughter walking around the property with all my horses following her, Trigger in the lead right next to her. This was a daily scenario at our ranch.
When she mastered walking she learned to put a halter on Trigger, and started to lead him around everywhere (not that he really needed a halter, he would follow her everywhere anyways,) including taking him into the house. That is how I got the idea to this photo shoot. It’s a staged shoot, the living room had more space than her room, where her bed usually stood, so my sister and I rearranged the furniture a little to be able to take this picture. It felt safer with more room. This horse was a very special horse that I rescued while pregnant with my daughter. I’ve written about Trigger many times before. Naturally this photo had to be a part of this post.
I took the second photo almost exactly a year ago, in Cold Creek (NV.) This is a wild mustang, walking down a rural dirt road. This photo spoke volumes to me. I lived in Las Vegas when I took the photo. I hated living in Las Vegas, and this photo gave me all the things I love; snow, horses, and mountains. I had it printed on a big canvas that covered a huge part of one of my walls in the room I had there. Made me happy every time I woke up and looked at it. Naturally it had to be a part of this post.
The last photo of my daughter picking figs on a high ladder, might not be a photographic masterpiece but it is here because this is my goal, to be able to pick food straight from my backyard. I love growing my own food. This was a rental property, but one day I want to have my own place with a huge vegetable garden and fruit trees right in my backyard. I’d love to see a post with your favourite photos!
It is early morning in Sweden (where I am now) and we woke up to a winter wonderland. I am about to go outside and play in the snow 🙂 Have a fabulous day!
Love,
Maria
Oh, I love this! Trigger, at home in the living room,
the girl, on the sofa, delighted. And her boots, waiting.

Thank you Diana. She had NO fear what so ever as a toddler. She hated using a saddle while riding, always insisted on riding bareback.

You know, I had trouble breathing (allergies) the whole time I lived in Las Vegas. I didn’t have that problem before I moved there, and it’s almost completely gone after a week away. That is a major contributing factor.

Wow, must be the smog which I don’t like to say but that must be it. I’m glad your breathing better! It’s never bothered me yet…

Thank you, I hope you continue to not be bothered by it.

Wonderful photos, Maria. Not too often you see a horse in the house, lol! I love your daughter’s pink cowgirl boots, and how natural she and the horses were together. Sweet!
Enjoy your wintery day!

Thank you so much Eliza 🙂 I have to admit that Trigger did come visit in the house fromt time to time, but otherwise I have never taken a horse in to the house (that I can remember.) She LOVED those boots, it was horrible the day when she couldn’t wear them anymore. Happy Thanksgiving my friend ❤

Definitely your favorite things, Maria! So glad you could share these marvelous images with Sunday Stills this week! Up here in Spokane, we saw a little snow ourselves yesterday, and it’s cold and windy today. Sounds like you are settling into your new home in Sweden! If you celebrate Thanksgiving, enjoy it!
