Hi, how are you doing? Welcome to the Weekend Coffee Share, a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new)! Grab a cup of coffee and share with us! What’s been going on in your life?
My week started out wonderfully when my book The Desert Around Las Vegas – A Guidebook To Amazing Day Trips In The Mojave Desert became available on Amazon on Monday. That is a milestone, and in a way a perfect ending to my time in Las Vegas.
My daughter and I are flying to Sweden on Sunday. Everything is downsized and packed. We are going to stay with family first, and I am very happy about seeing part of my family that I haven’t seen since before my daughter was born. The last time I was in Sweden I was 5 months pregnant with her.
I am looking to get a place of our own as soon as possible to make the transition easy for my daughter. I know what area in Sweden I want to be, but are open to different locations within that area, depending on where I find a good job, (and housing for us.) It’s not easy to find housing in Sweden, but somehow I’ve always been lucky when it comes to finding good places to live, so I am aiming to decide on a job first, and then deal with housing (I have started to look for housing as well.) It would be wonderful if I could figure this out before the holidays. That is my goal.
I want to create a home for my daughter, a safe place. There is going to be many changes for her and she is going to need a quiet place to wind down. She is super excited now, and keep talking about that “It’s going to be like moving to another dimension, on the other side of the world, where people speak a different language, and where there is snow.” She is extremely happy about the snow part. It’s definitely going to add to the Christmas magic.
Would you like a refill on your coffee?
I have a long list of things that I have to do on our first day in Sweden; including reporting our move to the authorities in person, getting a Swedish phone, getting a Swedish bank account etc. etc. Not overwhelming but definitely a few things that has to be taken cared of immediately. We’re going to arrive to Stockholm in the afternoon, and to the town I was born later in the evening. So I guess my list technically have to wait to the second day 🙂 I will share photos on Instagram, and later here on the blog when I get the opportunity.
I read a wonderful article this morning on the blog becoming minimalist that I love. The whole article was great, but I took a mental note of the last two sentences of the article;
“Each new season of life is an adventure. And every adventure is meant to be enjoyed. You might as well enjoy this current one the most.”
I am very grateful to be able to start this new chapter with my daughter. I hope your week have been fabulous so far. Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? What’s the weather like? Is it starting to feel like Christmas yet? Or are you in the middle of planning an amazing Thanksgiving?
