Weekend Coffee Share – Halloween & Back to nature

Welcome to the Weekend Coffee Share, a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new)! Grab a cup of coffee and share with us!  What’s been going on in your life?

Good morning! It’s finally Friday!  How are you? Did you celebrate Halloween yesterday? We did. We walked through a neighborhood close to where we live. It was just perfect, close by and fun. I had some problem breathing, but nothing I couldn’t manage. My daughter had a great time, she was happy with her costume, and the experience. Some of the houses had very creative Halloween decorations.

My daughter right before we headed out last night.

As you may have noticed, the photo at the top is from my property in Arizona. We are not there at the moment, but we are heading that way this weekend. I’m very excited about that. It’s going to be a low of 25-30 degrees, or maybe slightly below at night. That’s going to be a great test for our newish four season tent. The days are going to be upper 60’s, and sunny. I’m not planning on doing any work there, just enjoy the fresh air and the view (I’ve been stuck in the city for two weeks straight and I feel it.) I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend, definitely with some photo walks in the beautiful high desert surroundings. I’ll probably bring a book. I’m in the middle of Jo Nesbø’s crime novels featuring Inspector Harry Hole. I really just want to soak it all up this weekend; the air, and the surroundings.

I feel a strong need for some back to nature time. I can’t think of any place I’d rather spend the weekend than here on the top of my hill (5400ft elevation.) I took these photos the last time I visited 6 month ago. It was very green, I’m curious to see what it looks like now.

How is your week? Are you enjoying a beautiful fall? I guess almost winter? I can’t believe it’s November 1st today. We had a cold snap here in Las Vegas, and it’s been 37-40 degrees in the mornings this week. Maybe you even have snow now? Tell me about it!

It’s all about experiences, and the healing power of nature. Life is about choosing happiness. I entered the magic world of photography when I was five years old. My gypsy soul have taken me to many different countries, and definitely taught me to be more humble. I believe that you are what you eat, body and soul. I enjoy growing my own food, and spending time outdoors. A Sagittarius loves to travel, have an open mind and, and a philosophical view. It motivates them to wander around the world in search of the meaning of life. Sagittarius is extrovert, optimistic and enthusiastic, and likes changes. A lot of that perfectly describes me. The fact that my ancestors, on both parents sides, were vikings, doesn’t exactly lessen my desire to explore. Maybe a slightly more mindful exploring, compared to the average viking. My blog, and my art prints is a results of my (inner and outer) explorations. Love, Maria

    1. Yes, it was a green spring in northern Arizona. Thank you!
I read some Jo Nesbo books years ago, and thought it would be a good project around Halloween to read a few of his books. They are a little darker than the books I usually read. Right now I’m reading “The Redbreast”, and it takes place in Oslo, a city I really like. Thank you for stopping by, have an awesome weekend!

  1. Glad you both had some Halloween fun. It was stormy here, so we stayed in. Today is brilliantly sunny and super windy. I have 2 loads of laundry on the line – perfect weather for drying clothes! 🙂
Nice that you are getting out of the city to better air. Have a great time!

    1. Thank you so much Eliza! I love drying clothes outside, they smell so good then 🙂 I mean at least they did when I used to do that, I don’t think I would do it here.
It will be wonderful to go to Arizona. I decided against planting any trees, since the temperatures are colder than they usually are this time of the year. I anticipate a relaxing weekend 🙂 Enjoy yours ❤

Have a wonderful time at your property in AZ! How fun to get there and to see what it’s like in Nov. Take lots of photos so we can see too! (I know you always do 😉) I’m glad you’ll be able to get out of the city.
Thanks for the delicious coffee this morning! ☕❤️

  3. Great times Maria – and great memories are under construction in your world.
I hope the high desert air helps your breathing and I hope you get day temps better than sub-freezing. It’s bound to be beautiful regardless.

Things are getting back to normal for us. The fire and loss of power was disruptive, but in the end, only inconvenient to us so we feel blessed.

It’s always a good time visiting with you. Have a great weekend.

    1. Thank you Gary, it was a good week, and a fabulous weekend. The difference in temperatures between night lows and day high was almost 100 degrees! It was a high of 74 when we arrived to my property.
So happy that you are safe in all time fires. Hopefully the worst is over for the season. I hope you had a great weekend, thank you for dropping in for coffee!

    1. Thank you! I hope your kids enjoyed Halloween! Is it a big thing for them? It is here.. I’m going to catch up with all the coffee shares I missed while being gone in a minute. Thank you for having coffee with me this weekend.

  4. I love this time of year, though your post has made me realise I’ve not been out, so to speak, in nature for a while. I’ve contented myself though to notice the changing leaves on the trees and the migrating birds as I’ve walked around my town. I should put some time aside to visit the woods.

      1. When I have time there are some woods nearby that are great to walk through-I’ve been walking them for about thirty odd years! On a smaller scale, there is a park in which the local library is situated. Still smack bang in the centre of town, it nevertheless has enough trees and birds etc for me to be able to switch off and enjoy it all.

  5. I hope that you are having a wonderful time away from the city! Looks as though Halloween went well. Costumes are fun. I think that all of the children who showed up at our door were wearing costumes, this year. Makes it more enjoyable, that way.

    1. Halloween was great, and so was the weekend 🙂 It was a little drier this time in Arizona, but it is month before the rain start in my area. It usually rains most of December, May, and part of August. It was very beautiful, and we saw lots of wildlife, including a bunch of Javelinas. Thank you for having coffee with me!
