Flaxseed Bread

I shared a bread I baked this weekend on my Instagram, and Facebook page. Some of you wanted to try it yourself. This recipe is easy, frugal (less than one dollar a loaf,) vegan, and makes two loaves of bread. I prefer to use all organic ingredients. Total time it takes to make the bread is two hours.

Flaxseed Bread

2 cups of warm water

1 tablespoon yeast

3 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon salt

2 cups flaxseed flour (or 1 cup of flaxseed meal, and 1 extra cup of wheat flour.)

4 cups wheat flour (can vary a little depending the quality of the flour, elevation, and how dry it is in your area. I used a little less than 4 cups of flour.)

Pour the warm water into a large bowl. Add the yeast to the warm water. Stir until dissolved.

Add: sugar, oil, salt, and flaxseed flour.

Mix by hand with a wooden spoon. Gradually add wheat flour to make a firm dough. Knead for 8-10 minute by hand, until you have a smooth, elastic dough.

Pour oil in a big mixing bowl, place the dough in the bowl and cover. Let rise in a warm place for one hour.

Shape the dough into two loaves, and place them in loaf pans, that you greased with olive oil.

Let rise under cover for 30 min.

Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, 30-35 min.

Happy Baking !

      • I’ll definitely let you know. I’m traveling to Arizona this Thursday (flying) to see my granddaughter and family. It’s Alice’s 4th birthday this coming Saturday. 😀 Can’t believe it!! ❤️ But when I return I’ll get ingredients to make and let you know how it turns out. I’ve tried other breads and have had trouble with them coming out right so I’ll let you know after I’m done as I may need some suggestions on what I’m doing wrong…. Breads and pie crusts and biscuits have me baffled…. Never made a good one yet. 🙃😊
(Except when I had my sister’s bread maker, that thing was AWESOME and the bread came out great.)
