Weekend Coffee Share – Humble And Grateful

Welcome to our weekly coffee date! How are you doing? How is your week? Weekend Coffee Share is a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new)! Grab a cup of coffee and share with us!

If we were having coffee today, I would have some sunny ginger orange tea, my favorite at the moment. There’s a dozen or so, different types of teas available. Or I’d be happy to make you a strong cup of dark roast, organic coffee, in my French press. What do you fancy today?

I feel decently good, the best I’ve felt since my allergic reaction 11 days ago. I slept a full night for the first time. It was so fabulous. I’ve almost forgotten what that was like. I’m not going to complain, complaining is so boring. Let’s just say that I’m so grateful that I have an appointment for some allergy testing this coming Monday. I can’t wait to find out what this is all about, so I can move on, and get back to being myself again. Slightly more humble, and thankful.

Having had a little extra time to think due to this latest challenge, I’ve decided to start a new type of journal. With my beautiful, intelligent daughter as intended audience. I’m going to write about every day happenings, and thoughts, but also include stories from my childhood, about relatives that no longer are with us, and anecdotes from her own childhood. I hope that maybe one day she’ll find comfort in those stories. I’ve ordered a beautiful journal that I’m going to use specifically for this.

It’s tomato time here. I’m amazed that the plants are still alive, and thriving. There are signs of stress, yellowing, on the plants, but they are producing. We’ve had several weeks of three digit temperatures now. I’ve given my daughter a little job after breakfast every day, to harvest the cherry tomatoes from our container garden in the backyard. I think she secretly enjoys it very much, and feel proud over herself, even though she sometimes says “do I have too?”  She sure is eating a lot more vegetables when she is a part of the whole process;  planting, caring for, and harvesting.

Yellow Pear, and Roma Cherry Tomatoes.

I’ve been making preparations for my daughter’s upcoming birthday next week. I can’t believe she’ll be 7 years old in a few days. I might work a little more with that this weekend (double check the cake recipe etc etc,) but mostly it will just be rest, and recovery on the schedule.

Thank you for dropping in for coffee today! How are you doing? I hope your week is fabulous so far, and that your weekend exceeds your expectations 🙂 Tell me about your weekend plans!

It’s all about experiences, and the healing power of nature. Life is about choosing happiness. I entered the magic world of photography when I was five years old. My gypsy soul have taken me to many different countries, and definitely taught me to be more humble. I believe that you are what you eat, body and soul. I enjoy growing my own food, and spending time outdoors. A Sagittarius loves to travel, have an open mind and, and a philosophical view. It motivates them to wander around the world in search of the meaning of life. Sagittarius is extrovert, optimistic and enthusiastic, and likes changes. A lot of that perfectly describes me. The fact that my ancestors, on both parents sides, were vikings, doesn’t exactly lessen my desire to explore. Maybe a slightly more mindful exploring, compared to the average viking. My blog, and my art prints is a results of my (inner and outer) explorations. Love, Maria

  1. I’m glad your feeling better Maria! It’s wonderful that your daughter is eating more veggies, so much better than many other foods! And happy birthday next week to her!!! 😎 Stay cool guys.

  2. Glad to hear you are improving and hope that the allergy testing gives you some answers.
What projects are you working on these days with your daughter? I can’t believe the merchants are already pushing back to school specials. Goodness, summer just started, or so it seems. Time is going too fast for me!

    1. Thank you Eliza! Yes, I am praying for some answers here. It’s scary too not know.

I can’t say that we’ve done a whole lot of big projects lately. There has been some gardening, a lot of research about things she’s interested in (chickens, snakes, and other animals,) some drawing, and problem solving math. I’m getting her more crafting material for her birthday, including clay. She’s been wanting to make her own pots, and mugs out of clay for a long time. My plan is that we are going to work with clay until school starts here.

I love having my daughter at home. I don’t want the summer to end because of that. Besides that, I’m pretty done with summer. It started to get hot in April, and It’ll probably stay hot there until October.. I’m looking forward to fall 🙂

I am very happy that you are enjoying your summer!

Your daughter is so ADORABLE! ❤️ You have a great gardener helper! 😀 And sharing stories with your new journal will be so great with your daughter!! I so ENJOYED having tea with you this weekend. I’m having a great weekend and FINALLY found some time here to write a blog post about my horses. Have a great weekend! ❤️🥰😘

  5. Is good to have the allergy thing sorted out. Simplifies life, being more in control of your personal environment. Best wishes! Happy that your daughter is involved in the gardening. My siblings and I always helped in our family garden, summers. Rented a small plot of land for it from the family at the foot of the hill we were on. The people who had me help with candling eggs before sending them off to market.

    1. Sorry I am a little late in replying. It’s been a super busy week with my daughter’s birthday, and the usual work. I hope your week is great so far. I enjoy seeing your photos on Facebook.

Gardening really is good for ones soul. I loved helping grandma with her potatoes and strawberries as a child. Sweet memories. At our house we had rhubarbs, red currants, black currants, carrots, turnips, strawberries, apples, and some herbs. It was up in the mountains, and we grew what most people here would consider a winter garden, but in the summer.

      Happy Friday!

  6. Tomatoes and journals – how wonderful! We can swap some favorite tomato recipes. I do love tomato bread something fierce. I love the idea of your journal to chronicle life and memories. What a gift that is. My kids and I just last night went through old pics and video on Google Drive and did some memory walking. There was lots of “Oh I remember that!!!” I always enjoy having coffee with you!

    1. Thank you Tammy! do you have a great recipe for tomato bread? I would love to make tomato bread, I haven’t ahed that in years. This year we only have a few cherry tomato plants, and they are mostly getting eaten right away, as they ripe. I did make a tomato/bean soup a couple weeks ago, that turned out great. When I have lots of tomatoes I like to make canned pizza sauce, with fresh oregano and basil. We tend to bake our own pizza once a week or so, it tastes so good with our own sauce.

Sorry for my late response, its been a crazy busy week with my daughter’s birthday. She’s spending the weekend with her step sister, so I’m going to do some catching up here 🙂 Happy Friday!

    1. Thank you Terri! I am eager to find out what causes this. I had a minor allergy attack yesterday morning, but not at all as severe as the other one. It’s scary to not know what’s causing it. I’m hoping to get the answers today, or Monday.
I apologize for the late reply. It’s been a crazy busy week, with work, and little Princess’s birthday yesterday. She had a fabulous time, and that is all that counts. I’m very happy with how everything turned out. I’ve arranged six out of seven birthday parties for her, with the exception of last year. This year was the first time her dad came to one of her parties. It totally made her day. That smile on her face alone makes it worth everything to live reasonably close to her dad.
      I hope you’re having a great week!

  7. First, beautiful ‘maters! Look yummy. I’m very allergic to them, though. Hope you find out what your allergy is. Allergy attacks are horrible. I’m enjoying iced coffee this week with a touch of carmel added. The cashier called it a “carmel machiatto”… she’s got me hooked! Hope you have a great week, and Happy Birthday to your little one! 🙂 ❤

      1. No problems… after the week I’ve had, I totally get it. From stitching my finger to the latest of coating the inside of my car with soda because my cup collapsed….that’s the kinda week I’m having….

          1. Already am! I found the plastic bins I’m using to pack up really cheap up in Indiana while I stopped for a donut. A whole $2 cheaper a bin. Doesn’t sound like much, but when you consider how tight our budget is so we can afford to move, that $2 is a lot. Hubby is working overtime today just so we can shuck that money away for moving.
