When my daughter was very little we drove down Route 66, all the way from Chicago to Los Angeles. That’s when I first got a taste of Arizona.
I have not driven then whole stretch of Route 66 after that one time, but the Arizona part I’ve driven a few times.
I love the old murals, the people, the landscape, history, culture, and charming restaurants along the road. Along with the intense beauty of the nature in general, in Arizona, I started to do more research, and seriously think about eventually settling down here.
I narrowed down the area I wanted to live in, based on land prices, water, gardening seasons, low crime rates, year round temperatures (I like some snow in the winter,) local culture/people, and appealing nature. I took the photos in this post in the beginning of June, when I took my daughter to see the property I choose, along with enjoying the historical Route 66. I hope you enjoyed the taste of Route 66! Have you driven this road yourself? If so, I’d love to hear about how you experienced it! The weekend is almost here! I sure hope you’re having a great week so far 🙂
Love,
Ms Zen
Seligman and Kingman are among my favourite high desert towns. West Side Lilo’s is a favourite pit stop, going too and from Carson City. I knew Mr. Delgadillo, when he came to Flagstaff and ran his Snow Cap Two. I have driven the Mother Road from Kingman to its eastern junction with I-40, east of Seligman and the segments in Williams, Flagstaff, Winslow and Gallup. Coming up, a night’s stay at Mother Road Hostel, in Albuquerque, on June 17.

You got great taste! I really really like West Side Lilo’s. We had dinner there a couple weeks ago. I believe I have a t-shirt with their logo on.

Never traveled much of the Southwest, but sure enjoy learning about it. The climate and landscape intrigues me.

About 3 weeks. We didn’t rush, we pulled an RV, and stopped where we wanted to spend more time.

That shows the contrast between the US and the UK in terms of size. I was referring to that in ‘Motorway’ in In Brigantia.
