My friend Trent have a Weekly Smile post every week, where he share positive experiences from the past week, and encourage others to do the same. Get the good energy flowing! There’s so many things to be grateful for, small and big things. I’m going to try to post a Weekly Smile in the beginning of every week. This is my second entry.
This week I have so much to be grateful for. I spent the weekend road tripping in Arizona with my daughter. The most important destination was our property in Northern Arizona. I hadn’t been there for several years, and my daughter had never been there. As a single mom I’m trying to incorporate my daughter in the plans I make for our future. I show her how I manage our finances, and plan for the future. How to set goals, make a budget, and keep it. It was very important for me that she liked the property I bought for us. Both because she’s going to live there, and because I do make sacrifices to put money away for the development of the property, which naturally affects her as well. (I don’t buy her all the stuff she asks for, but make it a priority to give her experiences that makes her life richer.)
I already wrote about the very successful visit to the property here. I’m smiling big just thinking about that! I’ve made the photo (above) that I envision as the view from the front porch, into the background of my MacBook. I see it every time I sit down with my computer, and I get reminded about why I work so hard.
After visiting our property on Saturday, I took my daughter to watch the sunset over the Grand Canyon (more photos in a different post, or two.) There’s no price tag on an experience like that. I just loved seeing her amazement. I did take her once when she was a few months old, but this time she could experience it in a different way. I feel that this road trip brought us closer together as a family. It was very special in many ways. I am so grateful, and even though I’m back at work now, the smile on my face is still HUGE!
We got stuck in a couple traffic jams during our road trip, one involving elks, and another one where I had to chase some cows away..slightly different traffic jams than the ones we have here in Las Vegas. I don’t really mind these kind of traffic jams.

I knew about the smile from seeing your property, but I like the others as well. I saw the Grand Canyon once as a kid. I’m sure watching the sun set over it was special. An elk traffic jam is a lot better than the type you get in Vegas!

Yes, I figured you’d know 😊 I’m happy to hear you got to see Grand Canyon. It’s one of those things you’ll remember all your life. My daughter kept asking if we could take one of those elks. She LOVES elk.. lol

Like some mobster from Vegas? You need to watch out who she is hanging with 😉 lol

Lol. She grew up on a ranch.

lol, I know, it was just funny the way it was worded, particularly since, true or not, Vegas is notorious for Mobsters…. 😉

Maria, you just embody that leisure lifestyle and are such an inspiration for setting goals and going for what you love and value. Having your daughter alongside you is precious and will teach her these values. Love the elk traffic jam! Just letting you know my surgery went well and I’m enjoying my down time in the air conditioned house. My daughter is driving up from San Diego today to lend me a hand. I hate these crutches and just bought a knee scooter!

The traffic jams involving elk are so much more interesting than those involving cars!
