catholic church spain

I read my friend Terri’s post Sunday Stills, with the theme Gate this morning. It triggered my imagination immediately. Gates, and doors have such an important meaning; as a symbol, in history, daily life, and mythology.

Love is the master key that opens the gates of happiness, of hatred, of jealousy, and, most easily of all, the gate of fear. – Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

I looked through my photo archives, and found an old favorite. It’s the entrance of a Catholic Church, in Javea, Spain. I remember how it caught my attention the first time I saw it. What kind of emotions does this photo trigger in you?

Have a fabulous new week!

    • Same here. If those walls could talk! It might be both bullet holes and old age. I believe this church is seen as a holy place, more than other churches, that’s what I was told.

  1. I love the detail, so lost in todays architecture, but it also makes me want to decorate it in really bright colours with flags & streamers & put a unicorn out the front…sorry got carried away.
