Weekend Coffee Share – Snow In Las Vegas

IMG_2132

My little goof ball LOVES snow!ย

Hello Weekend! Or almost, weekend, it’s Friday morning and I’m early with my Weekend Coffee Share. I’m having Moringa tea this morning. Would you like some? Or if you’d rather, I’d be very happy to make you some of that magical black brew. (Mine is always very black, since I like my coffee strong as sin. There has to be some kick to it, otherwise I’d rather skip it.)

How was your week? Mine’s been great! Starting out with President’s Day on Monday. I worked, but my daughter didn’t have school, so she came with me to work. That was lots of fun! She is so awesome with the little boys in my care. Yesterday she whispered in my ear Mom, I’m so happy now that I sort of became a big sister. Of course that’s fantastic for a mom to hear. She say such sweets things every day. Like before bedtime, we have this routine of singing in Swedish, and after we finished she always says Mom, you know that you’re the best mom in the whole wide world, right? I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve this sunshine in my life, but I am so grateful.

On Wednesday it started to snow here in Las Vegas. A lot! It snowed all night to Thursday. I thought for sure that the schools were going to be closed. They had been talking about that, but they were open as usual. As soon as I found out, we planned to leave for school early. We always pass through a park on the way to school, and the park has a big field. We played in the snow for about 30 min before my daughter’s school started yesterday morning. We had a blast!

After dropping her off at school, I made breakfast for the kids at work, and took them to the park. They are originally from Florida, and have only seen snow once before. The oldest boy had a blast, the youngest didn’t know what to think.

Today Friday, the schools in Clark County (Las Vegas,) are closed. There’s still snow out, and the roads are icy. So wise decision. We’re definitely going to have snow on our schedule today. This much snow is highly unusual for Las Vegas. Can I get you a refill on your hot beverage? Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

We don’t go to the movies very often, but this weekend we have tickets for the new How to train your dragon movie. My daughter was obsessed with that movie when it first came out. In fact we had a dragon themed Christmas, when she was 2,5 years old. She LOVED those movies so much. Instead of Christmas ornaments that year we had plastic dragons from that movie. Fun memories! She is excited to see the new movie, so I’m excited to take her.

Have a fantastic weekend! Stay warm and safe ๐Ÿ™‚

Love,

Ms Zen

  1. Lovey photos MJ! Iโ€™ve been here six years, never seen this. First time in ten years so next winter is less likely, thank God. These folk donโ€™t know how to drive on slick or even wet roads, stay home! ๐Ÿ˜Žโค๏ธ

    1. Thank you Eliza! Most of it is gone now, but it’s still cold. It was lots of fun, especially for the kids, and Gretchen of course! Do you still have lots of snow? How long do you usually have snow? Have a great weekend my friend!

      1. We generally have snow through late March, although an occasional snow storm may drop a few inches that will melt in a few days into April. We’ve had a lot of freezing rain lately so the snow is crusty. Snow shoes help access the woods for daily walks.

  2. I love that your Christmas decoration reflected your daughters love for the movie “How to Train your Dragon.” I sure hope you got some great pictures. That really will be a wonderful memory. Great coffee post, thanks for sharing.

  3. Snow is fun for a treat, but I tire of the shoveling, bundling up, and general cold quickly. Come on spring! Glad you and the kids had a load-o-fun.

    1. I can totally understand that part. When you have to deal with snow for an extended time it’s not all fun and play. I grew up in colder climate with snow 9-10months out of the year. I know what you mean! Have a fabulous weekend!

    1. I hope you had a great weekend and not too warm ๐Ÿ™‚ Not sure if it’s the same Moringa tea that you like, but it is from a wild plant (some people grow it as well, for the medicinal benefits.) Have a fabulous week!

  6. Winters, as I remember them, are mostly for children. The joy of sledding down the hills, learning how to ski, building snow forts and throwing snowballs. There were a lot of children in our neighborhood as I was growing up, and it was so much fun. Glad that all of you are enjoying the falling/fallen snow. Happy faces, but particularly Gretchen’s, but also the picture of you and your daughter. ๐Ÿ™‚ Such fun!
