Weekend Coffee Share

Can I get you a cup of the black gold?  Or maybe some tea?

I haven’t written any post since last weekend’s coffee share. Which is a little unusual for me. My goal is 2-3 posts a week, and I usually nail that. What I have done in the blogging world, since my last post is; catching up with some of my favorite blogs, reading, and commenting. I have also looked into refreshing my design a little. I am kind of happy with the blog design I currently have. I like having one, big column in the middle, and no sidebars. I like the clean, uncluttered feeling that gives me. Suits my minimalistic mindset perfectly. I get distracted easily, maybe that is why I crave simplicity? Because I do like to fully get absorbed by the thing I’m doing. The major thing I would like to change with the design I have now is to showcase my camera photos bigger, while keeping any Instagram photos I may share on the same scale they are today (since their resolution usually is smaller.) I’m in the process of trying different themes, and customizing them, to see if I can find the perfect one. So far, I have not found one that I like better than the one I already have. Any suggestion of WordPress themes in line with what I am looking for?

How is your week? Are you fully recovered from the delicious Thanksgiving food? Is your home starting to look like Christmas? I’m going to get the best possible Christmas gift this year, we’ve set the date to when my daughter is moving in with me full time to Christmas Day. I am thrilled, and very grateful. I am also looking forward to spending this weekend with her. I’m going to make sure that we’ll get out of the city, at least on Sunday. I’ve been in the city every single day since last weekend. That is hard for my country soul. I daydream about quiet, open spaces, wild horses, and breathing fresh air. I do kind of like Las Vegas, better than I imagined, but too constantly be in a loud city, surrounded with city mentality all the time is challenging. I believe I can handle it a little longer, but I need to make sure to get out of the city in the weekends, otherwise it’s not going to work. Those weeks when I fit in 1-2 shorter hikes in the middle of the week, makes it much more manageable. I haven’t done that this week, but I know I should do that every week. The weather is still wonderful here. There’s even snow on some of the surrounding mountain tops. What’s the weather like where you live?

I was overdue for a haircut, and took care of that this week. It feels good.

My favorite series Vikings (the only one that I am following actually,) started up again this week after a very long break. That was exciting. I think Norway is one of the most beautiful countries on earth, and a big portion of it is filmed there.

Do you need a refill on that coffee? Any fun plans for the weekend? The coming week? We have The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in town next week. I’m not sure if I’m going to go, or not. It is kind of a big happening. We’ll see.

It’s the last day of November today, and that feels kind of weird. It’s crazy that 2018 is almost over! It’s been such an intense year. Have an amazing weekend, feel free to grab some coffee to go if you like 🙂

It’s all about experiences, and the healing power of nature. Life is about choosing happiness. I entered the magic world of photography when I was five years old. My gypsy soul have taken me to many different countries, and definitely taught me to be more humble. I believe that you are what you eat, body and soul. I enjoy growing my own food, and spending time outdoors. A Sagittarius loves to travel, have an open mind and, and a philosophical view. It motivates them to wander around the world in search of the meaning of life. Sagittarius is extrovert, optimistic and enthusiastic, and likes changes. A lot of that perfectly describes me. The fact that my ancestors, on both parents sides, were vikings, doesn’t exactly lessen my desire to explore. Maybe a slightly more mindful exploring, compared to the average viking. My blog, and my art prints is a results of my (inner and outer) explorations. Love, Maria

  1. Las Vegas is indeed a big noisy city, it was difficult at first for me coming from the countryside in Michigan with it’s woods, corn and soybean fields. After a couple years it was much easier. Maybe this will happen with you. The only thing that grinds my gears are rude drivers. Have a great weekend MJ. 😎🌴🌵

    1. I can see how that would be very similar to what I am experiencing right now. Michigan and Sweden have many things in common. That was one of my first thoughts while visiting.
I haven’t experienced so many rude drivers, but on the other hand, I am not driving in the city so much.
I hope you’re enjoying your new house. Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Tomorrow I will put up the Christmas tree ( not a real one) and get the other Christmas Decorations out and up. We put up the outside lights last weekend and tomorrow will turn them on at sunset. Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Enjoy your Christmas decorating. Previous years my daughter and I have cut our own Christmas tree, but I believe we might not do that this year, since we’re in the desert. Thank you for your kind comment. Have a great weekend!

  3. Now that December is nearly here, I have a feeling it will go very fast with the holiday planning. Our weather has been gray A LOT this past month so I’m hoping to see a bit more sun. I tend to focus on the next thing on my list and don’t think too far down the road. My holiday parties are spread out, so I am hoping to enjoy each one as it comes. I’ve also started on getting my Christmas cards out.
Exciting about your daughter coming to stay with you. Will she be splitting her year 6/6 months with each parent?

    1. That sounds like a wonderful month ahead of you 🙂 December tend to fly by so fast! Sending real Christmas cards is impressing in todays world. I’m impressed!
It is exciting that my daughter is coming back to me. I kind of new that this was going to happen. She’s going back to how it’s always been, living with me fulltime. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Mine was magical!

  4. What a great Christmas gift! I’m sure you are looking forward to having your daughter with you again.

I’m sorry if I laughed a little about how Scandinavian your post seemed – I’m not sure if the cliche is true, but people tend to think of Scandinavian design as being clean, efficient and minimalist, so I had to smile when you said that is the design you are looking for in you blog. And then, of course, that the only show you watch is Vikings, coming from the Sagittarius Viking 😀 I haven’t watched the show (I don’t have time for TV), but vikings fascinate me. Of course having many British ancestors, it is very possible I have some viking blood in there too, seeing as they owned most of Britain in the 10th century, and then, through the Normans (which were really vikings) they owned all of Britain from 1066 on!

I’m going to get a hair cut this coming week – I usual get one every 8 weeks, but it has been 16! I keep my hair long for a guy, but it is super long (for me). I’m sure I will feel lighter and freer after the cut, as you did with yours.

I hope you get out into some fresh air! Have a great week!

  5. I Love your hair cut and I have been thinking about getting a hair cut too! But probably not as short as yours but am thinking it would be nice to get it cut and layered. We will see. I am also so very happy about your daughter coming back home to you full-time. That is what I call awesome sauce! I say some silly things, like Cool Beans!! I’m just strange like that with my silly sayings. Anyways, I loved having a cup of coffee with you and catching up! Always a delight. ❤

  6. I have used the same WordPress theme for a while now, and I don’t actually remember what the options are. I know when I switched to the one I use it took me a while to sift through and find what I was looking for.

I am watching Vikings as well. I am a bit worried about Lagertha’s character…I guess we will see where this season takes us.

Great coffee post, thanks for sharing.

    1. Thank you! Always a pleasure having coffee with you.

I like your blog design. You made a great choice, It’s very tasteful.

Lagertha’s character is slightly concerning. The first episode was very good. Looking forward to a new one on Wednesday.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I did spend a lot of time outdoors.

  7. Hi Maria. I did wonder, when you moved, how Las Vegas would work out for you because you clearly are a country gal, thoughtful and nearly reciprocal to the glitz of the city, but you are wearing it well. I’m really pleased that you found the joy that LV has to offer. Hope there is a great December coming your way.

  8. Check out the Suits them. It’s pretty simple, allows for big pics, and has optional sidebars.

    Love the Hair!

  9. We’ve been having freezing fog, a lot of mornings. Temperatures hover around freezing. Ice on the roads and sidewalks, drying up before the sun sets. We’re promised dropping temperatures, now, but not a lot of snow. The warming made it easy to get out for my birthday dinner, Thursday evening, and lunch the next day with my sisters-in-law. Happy to know that you will have extra time with your daughter during the Christmas season. Such fun you will have! And the frequent escapes during the week sound like a good move.

We do family gatherings for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, since my husband’s sisters and their families live across the river from us, but we do not have any holiday traditions or activities other than those gatherings. Trying, rather, to keep in mind the significance of what they represent in the course of each day. A quiet time, mostly. When I was still working and also before I married, I did not make appointments for a week or three at the end of the year and made a “mini retreat” at home. Hah! Time has fled and I must sleep. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  10. I lived in Las Vegas in the 1990’s. It can be a hectic city and it was always nice for me to hike out at Red Rock or go to Utah for a weekend. Enjoy decorating for the holidays with your daughter.

  11. Hello! Great to catch up again Ms Zen. I really must start thinking about Christmas because it’s barely crossed my radar and it’s not that far away. My daughter has her dance concert next Saturday and my violin concert’s on Sunday and so I’ll have more mental energy after they’re out of the way. It’s also very hot here at the moment and it’s hard to think about much else today. That’s why I thought I’d sit down with my cup of tea and catch up on the coffee shares instead of being more active.
It’s great that you’ve been able to sort out and share custody of your daughter and that you’ll have that time together coming up.
Well,, my tea has run out so time to get another refill.
    Best wishes,
