I’m on my second cup of the black magic brew this morning. Can I get you some? How would you like yours? I have tea as well, if you’d rather have tea.
How is your week so far? I’m having a good week. Starting yesterday I get off work at 4pm every weekday. Since it’s only been one day I can’t really say how it is, but I assume it’s going to be totally awesome!
This week have pretty much all been about Halloween. Preparing for Halloween, and celebrating Halloween. I carved pumpkins with the little boys at work in the beginning of the week. Since they are only 9 months, and (almost) two years old, it had to be an entertaining, rather quick process, to keep their interest. A challenge I’m always up for! I feel that it was very successful, as they were mesmerized the whole time. It might not of been my most artistic pumpkins, but I am very happy that they enjoyed it so much.
It’s crazy, I’ve only been the little boys nanny for three months, but I love those boys, like if they were my own. They have totally stolen my heart. I have so much fun with them. They are always up for adventures, and they LOVE music. Every day is filled with laughter, games, long walks, time at the playground, fairytales, crafts, funny faces, songs, laughter, and lots of hugs and kisses. I definitely feel that I am at the right place.
On Halloween, I drove to where my daughter now lives, with her dad, to go trick and treating with her. In the name of being open-minded (LOL,) I ended up trick and treating with her stepmom, my ex husband, and my daughter’ step sister. It did go well, even though I felt it was slightly weird. We went trick and treating for a couple hours. The girls had a blast, which was the most important. I am glad I did go.
Do you follow the series Ghost Adventures? I do watch it from time to time. It’s usually a recorded show, where they visit ghost towns, and haunted houses. On Halloween they had a live show, here in Vegas. I watched it on TV, from a few miles away. It was scary!! It took place at a haunted museum here in town. How was your Halloween?
Last night I went to a really nice steak house for dinner. It was awesome, and totally unplanned. I normally like to dress up at least a little if going out to dinner, but yesterday was a jeans and t-shirt day. The food was really good.
The 4×4 vehicle (I guess it’s some kind of crossover between a truck and a jeep,) that I bought last weekend is running great. It’s fun to drive, and I have been taking some dirt roads, and mountain roads, to try it out this week. I am hoping to do some more of that this weekend, along with some hiking.
Care for some more coffee? Have a fabulous weekend!

It sounds like you had a good week with both sets of families. I’m sure it was odd going out with your ex and his wife, but it sounds like it was a successful trick-or0treat anyway. i hope you do get out and do some hiking over the weekend. Have a great one, no matter what you end up doing!

Thank you Trent ! It was a good week, and the weekend seem promising. I picked up my daughter after work yesterday. She wants to paint this weekend. So we’re heading out for some art supplies. That will be fun. I hope your weekend is relaxing and everything else you want 🙂

I am so glad you are enjoying life so much! And you are dating someone!!! Yay!
Tick or treating with your Ex and her Step Mom and her step sister may sound strange to some but I will say… It sounds perfect! Do you know how much that means to you daughter??
My two adult boys can be in the same room with my Ex and my sweet man. They are so happy that there is No Bitterness and everyone can get along! My Ex and my sweet man get along as well!
The more you can do things like that the less odd it will be.
Hugs to you. I hope to start posting a little bit more regularly… we are such an active couple,

“We are such an active couple,” that’s part of what makes your blog so interesting. I’m looking forward to see more posts from you, as always. Maybe even have coffee in real life one day 🙂
It is a wonderful thing when everyone gets along. It does mean a lot for the kids. (Thank you for sharing your experience.) My daughter’s new sister means a lot to her. They are very very different, but mostly sweet to each other. I know she is a big part of why she wants to live with her dad, to always have a friend to paly with. They are only a few months apart, and take the bus to school together every day. It makes me happy that she has a sibling. I am praying that her father’s relationship is going to last, so that my daughter wont be left with a broken heart in the end. She is so loving and sweet, I really hope that she wont have to experience that.
Your nature photos from Arizona are a treat I look forward to see every time I open my Instagram! Have a wonderful weekend ❤

Excellent Update Ms.Z. All great stuff and exactly the type of great stuff I would expect you to thrive with. Yea – face time with an ex, sounds like potential trouble, but I’ve always thought that, even with ex girl or boy friends, we went public at one time that this person was somehow special, and now, we found they weren’t the right match for us forever. The latter discovery should not automatically cancel out the former, so if we can be graceful about any hurt that may have caused us to separate, then backing back down to some version of the previous friendship should be possible. Now look at you – proving that’s its not only possible but healthy especially for the kids. Wild applause from my corner of the world. . . .

I love that you went trick or treating with the ex, the new wife, and crew. Having a decent relationship with these people can only be good for your daughter. And then you will get to see her more . Win-win.

Thank you! Halloween is a fun holiday. Did you celebrate with your kids? Or maybe it isn’t that big over there? (It wasn’t in Sweden when I was a kid.)

It wasn’t when I was a kid either. However it seems to have become very Americanised now. My son was at a Halloween party, my daughter trick or treating with a friend’s family. I stayed at home watching a horror movie and dishing out sweets to the plague at my door!

Thank you Kathleen! I have thoroughly enjoyed your Halloween photos. The photos of the girls, is taken at an RV park that had a lot of Halloween celebrations going on. We just had to check that out. I thought about you when we were there.

Sounds like you had a great Halloween and weekend. Happy you’ve got the 4×4 to get you where you want to go. My dad was a rural mail carrier with a 100-mile daily route, and he always bought 4-wheel-drive Jeeps. The hilly farm country was bad in the wintertime, and it was a long way between farms, should something go wrong. Was the town where he was born and raised, though, and so he knew almost everyone along the way.
Hope the change in work schedule goes smoothly. Unstructured time is necessary for creativity and for relieving stress.
Best wishes for your week!

Thank you Lizl. It was a good week. I hope yours was too! I usually don’t have so much screen time when my daughter is with me in the weekends, so I’ll have to catch up on the coffee shares today.
I did get a 4×4 last weekend, and I enjoy it a lot. I lived my whole life in the countryside until three months ago. Now I can enjoy getting out of town easier on my free time. My daughter and I tried a new (for us) trail in the Red Rocks (outside LAs Vegas,) yesterday afternoon. It was fantastic! I love this time of the year, when you can enjoy the beauty of the desert, without the heat. We climbed the side of a canyon, saw prickly pears, Joshua trees, and a lot of horse manure but sadly no wild horses. The area is known for wild horses and burros, the road there has sign encouraging you to watch out for them. A couple weeks ago I saw three HUGE pronghorns nearby. It’s exciting, and exhilarating to go exploring there.
Have a wonderful new week!

How exciting, new trails and experiences together! Reminds me of childhood and my dad’s taking me out into the woods and teaching me how to mark a trail and how to find my way our and home, again. Memories that live forever. I am into the “Months of Mourning”, right now, the 2nd anniversary of my mother’s death on the 15th and my father’s on Feb. 26. The shock has worn off, and I am feeling the magnitude of the loss, again. I woke up thinking that I must decide on a practice or ritual to make this time sacred. To mourn constructively. And my puppies call to me. Have a good day!

Thank you Lizl. Such important skills your dad passed on. I love taking my daughter out to experience nature together, all the conversations about life, and our surroundings. Life skills that hopefully lasts a lifetime.
The loss of a parent is difficult. I hope you fund a way to handle your grief. It was 26 years, and 2 months ago since I lost my mother.

Your Halloween sounds like it was mature and good for your daughter. A strong relationship with her step-sister is important for her well-being. Hope you had a great weekend, as well.

Thank you! Co-parenting is not always the easiest. I’ve been the sole provider, and caregiver for her until three months ago (that was comparably very easy, just raising her with the moral standards that I believe in,) it is not easy to see someone else take that role. When to say something, when to just be quiet when you disagree etc etc.. I’m doing my best, but it’s definitely my biggest challenge in life so far. My daughter is everything to me. It’s difficult to watch her from a distance.
The weekend was wonderful. My daughter was in an art mode on Saturday, and we did some acrylic painting. Yesterday I took her to a Mexican restaurant that I like for lunch, and then we explored a new trail in the Red Rocks. It was a great time. I hope you had a great weekend as well. I don’t get my screen time during the weekends, so I’m going to catch up with all my favorite blogs today and tomorrow.

Thanks so much for sharing the Halloween photos. Halloween isn’t such a big thing here in Australia so I really enjoyed seeing all that festivity.
Full marks to all of you for coming together for your daughter. These situations are more the norm these days than the married mum and Dad scenario like my husband and I. You’d like to think that people have become more enlightened about blended families. Yet, at the same time, there’s usually one side who was let down by the other and having that o0ngoing contact through the kids is awful.
Best wishes,
Rowena
