Weekend Coffee Share

c (1)

It is 6am, and I have already finished my morning coffee. There’s still plenty left in the pot, can I get you some? The truth is that I have my shoes on. I’m waiting for my ride. I’m on my way to the gym. For like the first time in ten years, literally. I’d say that I’m in good shape, from doing ranch chores, hiking, playing with kids, and riding horses. I also had some weights at home, when I lived in California, but I have not set my foot in a gym in probably more than ten years.

Have an awesome Monday!

In all the excitement over going to the gym, for the first time in ten years yesterday morning, I forgot to tell you a couple important things. (The gym was a lot of fun, and I went again this morning.) Like the fact that I sold my car on Sunday. Yes, the one I bought two months ago.. I wanted a fuel efficient, reliable vehicle to drive from northern California, to Las Vegas, when I moved. I sold my old truck, and bought this car. In my head it was going to be convenient to have a car in the city, instead of a truck. However, I don’t really drive around in the city. I miss being able to take the backroads, and go play in the mountains. Therefor I sold the car, and I’m going to start looking for a 4×4. I’ll probably try to find a good deal on a used truck.

I also forgot to tell you that I had a conversation with the family I work for, about working less hours. It just doesn’t make sense for me to work 60-70 (or more) hours/week. Starting November I will only work 40 hours/week. Very happy about that! …and I’ve started to look into ways of working towards my PhD via an online University. I found out that I need to get a Masters first… I’m totally clueless when it comes to various degrees. I’ve looked at a few different universities. I would like to study developmental psychology with a focus towards younger children, which is my area of expertise.

I love school, always have, and I want to learn more. I have a BA in Early Childhood Education. I believe that part of my mission in life, is to encourage young children, and gently guide them while they are discovering their world. To guide them towards asking the right questions, and learning how to look for those answers, in our ever changing world. In a fun playful. I would love to add more knowledge about the psychological side. I’m hoping to find a curriculum that allows me to study at home for the most part, at my own pace, while I am working. Some universities required an in depth English test for students, with another native tongue than English. I took one of those tests, that had one reading part, and one listening part. After the test your score put you in one of six categories, from beginner (lowest level) to proficient (highest level of understanding.) Honestly, I was clueless as of which category I would land in. I did end up with a score that put me in the highest category. That felt good. I understand that I would have to work a little harder than native speakers, but I’m up for that challenge, when I find the right program. I’m not going to rush this. I’ll just follow my intuition. Like I always do.

Alright, time to hit the shower before the work day begin. I really enjoy this new thing of going to the gym in the mornings. It feels great! Grab another cup of coffee if you like, and have an awesome day!

Yes, I missed writing yesterday, morning, and it’s already Thursday! I had a wonderful day yesterday. I slept in (to about 6ish..lol,) did not go to the gym. I am going to the gym today though, in a few minutes. Which I’m pretty pleased with, since it’s the third time this week.

I actually got off work early yesterday. The little angels I’m taking care of had a doctor’s appointment in the afternoon. I started to look at trucks. Had a nice dinner at a restaurant, and spent the evening watching scary ghost adventures on TV. It’s almost Halloween…

It is Friday, and almost 7am. It’s going to be an awesome day today, right? Today I’m going to do my exercise outdoors, but I did go to the gym yesterday morning. It was the third time this week, and it feels fabulous.

I’ve been trying out some new contacts this week as well, and they are so much better than the ones I had before. All in all, this week have been treating me really good so far. How is your week?

I’m hoping to see my daughter this weekend, read some good books (I have several new books waiting for me to devour them,) and definitely going to look at some trucks this weekend. I’m hoping to do some photography as well. Before my move to Vegas I upgraded to a full frame camera, but I have barely used it. I’m very excited to be working a little less from now on, because working so much definitely affected my photography. It feels like a piece of my soul is missing there. Do you know what I mean? I’m very excited about this cooler weather, and all the opportunities it brings (spending more time outdoors without risking a heat stroke..lol.)

Weekend Coffee Share is a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new)!
Grab a cup of coffee and share with us! What’s been going on in your life? What are your weekend plans? Is there a topic you’ve just been ruminating on that you want to talk about?

Have a wonderful, fabulous, fantastic weekend! Relaxing if you need it 😊

It’s all about experiences, and the healing power of nature. Life is about choosing happiness. I entered the magic world of photography when I was five years old. My gypsy soul have taken me to many different countries, and definitely taught me to be more humble. I believe that you are what you eat, body and soul. I enjoy growing my own food, and spending time outdoors. A Sagittarius loves to travel, have an open mind and, and a philosophical view. It motivates them to wander around the world in search of the meaning of life. Sagittarius is extrovert, optimistic and enthusiastic, and likes changes. A lot of that perfectly describes me. The fact that my ancestors, on both parents sides, were vikings, doesn’t exactly lessen my desire to explore. Maybe a slightly more mindful exploring, compared to the average viking. My blog, and my art prints is a results of my (inner and outer) explorations. Love, Maria

  1. Sounds like a good week. Glad your hours will be less, to give you more time for self care. So important!
We’re about midway through our fall foliage season. LOTS to do in the yard, raking, getting things ready for winter. So much to do, so little time (and energy 😉 I could use some of yours!).
    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Thank you! I bet fall is a busy season for you, as I am sure you’re doing a lot to prepare for a beautiful spring. I hope the weather is on your side, and that your fall chores have a meditative, energizing effect. Enjoy your weekend!

  2. Good luck on working towards your degree. I’d love to be able to find a way to be a full time student for the rest of my life 😉 I think you are right to cut back your hours. I think 70+/week is far too many! I don’t go to the gym much, but I have been doing weight training on my own for about 3 years. I picked up a great book and have a good routine. I also run several times a week. Seems like your exercise routine is going well. It sure didn’t take you long to get back into it.

    Have a great week!

    1. Thank you Trent! I still haven’t figured out exactly how to go about the school thing. Part of the fun is finding the right way. I don’t feel that I have to go back to school, more that I want to, for myself. So there is really no pressure, which I like a lot.
It sounds like you have your exercise routine working for you as well 🙂
Thank you for your kind comment!

  3. Good luck on getting your degree. I too love going to school but with 2 masters and a load if specialized certifications, I am content to take workshops only.

    1. Thank you! Two masters, how wonderful! I understand that you enjoy school 🙂 Workshops are great. I try to participate in different workshops, and take a college class here and there, to keep my mind sharp – and have fun 🙂 Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  4. Exciting news about your degree venture!! Best of luck to you.. I start Lean Six Sigma training in January and I’m excited and nervous at the same time.. I just joined a gym recently too and love it! Have a great week!

  5. Maria, I’m glad to read you are on two important paths, continuing your education (it’s never too late..earned my MS in 4 years starting at age 47, going part-time), and getting back on track to the gym. I know you are very active, but it is nice to have a buddy to go with and motivate you! I default to the gym in the winter or when it is too hot or for the special classes like yoga. I’ve been going to my gym (one mile from my house) since 2008! Still see the same folks and have made some friends! Thanks for the coffee, my friend 🙂

    1. Thank you! That is so awesome that you got your MS! Very inspiring. Going back to school is something that have been on the backburner, but now it seem realistic to actually do it, when I find the right school. I haven’t felt that my English have been sufficient enough until recently, and my daughter is older now. There’s a time for everything. I’m thinking that part time, like you did it, would be perfect for me. I like a challenge. Or rather, I need to have some kind of challenge. If there is none in my life, I’ll create one, that’s just how I work. LOL. I enjoyed coffee with you, as usual. Have a great week Terri!

  6. Each week, you report so much good news Maria. I’m so pleased for you. Great family to work with, great new social life in a city where you just arrived, improved health and camera (that you really should use and share the results from…) Great stuff as usual.
