Andalusian Horses – Andalusian World Cup

Andalusian Horses

Since the Andalusian World Cup is taking place in Las Vegas this week, (starting today,) I thought it was only right to post some photos of Andalusian Horses, to get in the right state of mind.

Their beauty, and intelligence captured my heart as a little girl. These photos are taken with an old fashion film (yes!) camera, six years ago, during a visit to a breeding facility in Eastern Spain.

The photos are not edited. You can see all the mud. It was spring time. Despite the mud, a trained eye can easily see that these horses are really nice horses.

I’ve never had an Andalusian Horse in my stable. They usually comes with a very high price-tag. I almost bought a 3 year old Lusitano (from Portugal) once. The reason why I didn’t in the end, was that he was a little too desensitized.

Who knows, maybe my next horse will be a beautiful Andalusian Horse?

I am very attracted to intelligence, in people, and in animals. These magnificent creatures are extremely intelligent. I’ve spent a lot of time observing them, during some of my childhood summers in Spain.

On another note, have you ever used a film camera? I mean, the kind were you develop the negatives to get your photos? I loved my old Hasselbladh, that my grandma gave me. Probably not the easiest camera to learn with, but I sure loved it.

Looking back at these photos I am getting excited about seeing some pretty horses this week. I am working a full week as well, but I am definitely going to make some time to enjoy the party.

Love,

Ms Zen

  1. Beautiful photos!! Back a long time ago in the 70’s when I was in High School I took a photography class and my Dad had a super nice Canon camera that he let me use for class. We used all black and white film and we learned how to develop them in the photo lab!! Super duper FUN!! I still have those photos, I’ll gave to dig them up and share one day soon!!

I have photo books filled with photos with my kids growing up. I need to get printed books made with all the photos I take now, not the same as the old photos but it’s fun to have them printed!! So MUCH I want to print to see, some I’d love to print just to frame! Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos of Spain and Andalusians! ❤️ 😀

  2. This got me remembering, not a film camera, but my old Polaroid camera. Where you would waft the photo around in your hand as it developed. I used it at Christmas family gatherings when I was young, at my grandparents, etc, so have fond associations with it.
They had no horses to us it on, but did have a poodle. Does that count? 😀

    1. Most certainly the poodles count 😉 my best friend Jenny had one of those cameras. I was never lucky enough to own one, I was so jealous of hers. They looked like a lot of fun. I believe they are making a comeback. I’ve seen them at some stores lately.

  3. drool, drool if there was the opportunity to buy one of those horses how would one even choose anyway, beautiful.
My daughter is studying photography in Melbourne she only uses film, the quality of her work is amazing & the graininess of the pictures add so much character. With her permission over Christmas I’ll try do a blog of her work.
